Tommy Reid is an accomplished Director, Producer & Writer with over thirteen combined years of Independent Feature, Documentary and Field Production experience. Tommy developed and produced four independently financed films all of which have sold. Tommy has an expertise in story research/development, production strategy, marketing, and film distribution. He is a highly resourceful and an effective leader who brings energy and passion to all of his work. Tommy has a solid track record of managing multiple projects on tight timelines and brings a cost conscious budget to his projects. Reid has a proven ability to negotiate and execute complex joint venture agreements, talent contracts and film distribution deals overseeing budgets ranging from $1M to $12M. Reid is innovative, thinks big picture and has a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He has consistently taken a story, built a strategy and created a product that resulted in a solid return for his investors.
Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, Reid graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Reid then went on to complete the New York Film Academy where he worked on over 15 short films and directed and produced his own short film. Reid furthered his learning about the film business opportunities while interning at Viacom's, Innovative Artists and working full time at Paradigm.
In 1998, Tommy Reid started Dundee Entertainment, LLC, an entertainment production and development company focused on high concept films at cost conscious budgets. Dundee has a production slate of over 20 projects in various stages of development.
Reid directed and produced his first feature film STRIKE starring Tara Reid, Vinnie Jones, Ray Wise, Vincent Pastore, Robert Carradine, Rachel Hunter and Ross Patterson. Tommy took on a key role during pre-production thru postproduction on the film, making critical decisions while maintaining an on-schedule and on-budget production. STRIKE (June 2009) is released domestically by Anchor Bay on DVD.
Reid directed and produced the feature, Screwball: The Ted Whitfield Story, a mockumentary/spoof on the backyard sport of Wiffle-ball where the Greatest Wiffle Ball player of all time attempts to break the home run record. Reid brokered a DVD deal with Anchor Bay and is available on all VOD platforms. Screwball: The Ted Whitfield Story stars Joey Kern (Super Troopers), Christine Lakin (The Game Plan), Andy Milder (Weeds) and Richard Gant (The Big Lebowski).
Reid has exemplified his strengths in business and entertainment mostly with his feature film that came out with a theatrical release by Anchor Bay in March 11, 2011 titled Kill The Irishman. Reid’s persistence paid off as he partnered with Code Entertainment for the production. It took Reid over 13 years from optioning the book to production of the film, shot in summer 2009. Kill The Irishman is directed by Jonathan Hensliegh and stars Christopher Walken, Ray Stevenson, Val Kilmer, Paul Sorvino, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, and Steve Schrippa.
Reid secured a distribution deal with Anchor Bay for the non-fiction documentary film on Cleveland’s most notorious criminal, Daniel “Danny” Greene. The documentary is titled DANNY GREENE: The Rise & Fall of The Irishman, and features exclusive interviews from Danny’s ex-wife Nancy, daughter Sharon, and Ed Kovacic, the Cleveland ex-Police Chief that went face to face with Danny during his life in Cleveland. The acclaimed documentary was reviewed by the major newspaper The Cleveland Plain Dealer and rated an (A-) and had 7 sold out shows at the Cleveland International Film Festival this year March 25 through March 27, 2011. Reid brokered a theatrical release for the documentary in 12 theatres nationwide. It opened April 8, 2011 and stayed in theatres until June 2, 2011. It is available on DVD, and all major VOD platforms, June 14th, 2011.
Mr. Reid is now in post production on his current documentary feature called “$uperthief: The Mastermind Behind America’s Biggest Bank Heist.” $uperthief is a captivating firsthand look at the life of Phil Christopher, a career criminal, Mafia associate, and one of the most successful bank burglars in the U.S. In a raw and candid, sometimes humorous accounting, Reid takes his audience inside Phil’s brutal street world and prison life and exposes the details behind the planning and execution of the daring and record-setting 1972 United California Bank burglary in Orange County, California. The UCB burglary is the biggest in U.S. history.
